Casey’s General Stores Inc. enters into an agreement with a group associated with Price Chopper to lease the convenience store and refueling pumps located at 3425 Ingersoll Ave. in Des Moines, a spokesperson for Casey’s, based in Ankeny, confirmed. Rumors have been circulating for months that Casey’s is taking over the operations of the convenience store, which is located across from the Price Chopper grocery store at the same address. Price Chopper, which is operated by Associated Wholesale Grocers, based in Kansas City, Kansas, has been located on the site since 2015. The store was previously occupied by Dahl’s Foods Inc., a longtime Des Moines-area grocer who has went bankrupt. The spokesperson for Casey’s wrote in an email that the convenience store will be remodeled. However, she wrote that it is not yet known when Casey’s will resume operations at the convenience store. Casey’s operates more than 2,200 convenience stores in 16 states and is the fourth largest convenience store retailer in the United States.
