Tesla is back in the alcohol business.
At the automaker’s Giga-fest to celebrate the imminent opening of its new plant in Germany last weekend, Elon Musk said the company would sell its own Gigabier at the plant. Gigabier is German for “Gigabeer”.
Musk was talking about the train station and the graffiti that would be in the factory in the Berlin area when he said, “and we’ll even have a beer.”
He didn’t reveal anything more about the drink, but an image of a bottle with the same kind of angular design as the Tesla Cybertruck was projected onto the screen behind it.

In 2020, Tesla launched a limited edition Teslaquila tequila which it sold on its US website for $ 250 a bottle and offered a second edition in 2021 which was also quickly mentioned. The lightning bolt bottle is often listed by online dealers for over $ 1,000, with and without the alcohol still inside.

The drink was inspired by an April Fool’s joke tweet that Musk posted in 2018 stating that Tesla had gone bankrupt, along with a photo of him passed out holding a “bankwupt!” sign and caption, “Elon was found unconscious against a Tesla Model 3, surrounded by ‘Teslaquilla’ bottles, the traces of dried tears still visible on his cheeks.”
Pricing and availability of the Gigabier have not been announced, but Tesla aims to start production of the Model Y at the German plant by December.
