Stoney’s in Solomons and Broomes Island is heading to bankruptcy court; could see the auction | |

SOLOMON ISLAND, Maryland – Two Calvert County seafood was recently scheduled to be auctioned off, but court records have changed the plans.

Stoney’s Kingfishers Seafood Bar & Grill in Salomon and a sister establishment on Broomes Island, Stoney’s Seafood House, were originally scheduled to be auctioned on October 19. However, a recent bankruptcy filing forced the sale to be canceled.

“We have to wait for the outcome of the bankruptcy court before we know if the properties will come back for auction,” said Paul Cooper, vice president of Alex Cooper Auctioneers Recount

The two originally scheduled auctions included only real estate according to Cooper, as the Baltimore Business Journal noted.

Stoney’s Kingfishers is approximately 4,800 square feet and sits on 0.25 acre waterfront land on the Patuxent River. In addition, the restaurant offers a panoramic view and several boat launching ramps. The owners are currently renting out the restaurant.

Currently, the Broomes Island location is temporarily closed, but it still has some nice features. The restaurant measures approximately 6,200 square feet and has a 300-seat restaurant that has served the community for over 20 years. The property also shares 1.34 acres of waterfront property with an adjacent bed-and-breakfast. There is also a 5,000 square foot wedding hall next door.

The auction was to take place at the Calvert County Circuit Court. We will continue to provide additional details as they become available.
