Warwick woman pleads guilty to altering bankrupt business records and stealing $ 25,000

Providence, RI – Linda Davis Griffin, 48, of Warwick, pleaded guilty today in federal court in Providence to altering the bank records of her bankrupt property management company, Vision Adventures, LLC, to steal 25,000 $ in bankruptcy funds.

Davis Griffin pleaded guilty today in federal court in Providence to one count of tampering with bankruptcy records, admitting that she forged bank documents in order to cover up the conversion of bankruptcy estate funds for his own use, according to a statement released today by US Attorney Peter F Neronha and Harold H. Shaw, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Boston Field Office.

According to information presented to the court, in March 2013, Vision Adventures filed for voluntary bankruptcy with the US bankruptcy court in Providence. The US Bankruptcy Code requires an authorized person to file monthly operating reports with the US trustee and the US bankruptcy court. Monthly operating reports provide information on the debtor’s income and expenses and copies of the corresponding bank statements to justify the activity. Davis Griffin is the only member of Vision Adventures and was the person authorized to file monthly operating reports.

Davis Griffin told the court that several of the monthly operating reports she provided to the US trustee and the US bankruptcy court contained corrupted bank statements, making it appear as if there was less money in the accounts. Bank of Vision Adventure than there actually was. She admitted to converting a total of $ 25,480 of debit funds for her own use.

The matter was investigated by the FBI. It was forwarded to the United States Attorney’s Office by the United States Department of Justice’s Office of the United States Trustee for the Districts of Maine, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.

The case is being pursued by Assistant US Attorney Terrence P. Donnelly, with the assistance of Assistant US Attorney Gerard B. Sullivan.

Davis Griffin is set to be sentenced by U.S. District Court Chief Justice William E. Smith on July 15, 2016.
